So what should an instant read thermometer do for you ?
An instant read thermometer should give you instant, accurate readings that you can rely upon, especially with very delicate items like beef when you need a perfect internal temp to get to the level you like. It should allow you to read the temperature in any condition (night, day, smoke from a grill, poor eyesight). It should also be easy to use and intuitive.
The ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 does all that and more, which is what places it above its competitors. Here’s a rundown of ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10’s features so you can get a better idea:
- 1-second temp reading, so you don’t have to waste an extra minute with your steak
- accuracy within 0.7 F degrees, which is a great touch when you’re looking to get your food to the exact temperature
- white-on-black LED display, for a sharp and clear temperature reading with very large numbers
- 270 degree display rotation so you can use it with either your left or right hand, at any angle you need
- 3000 hour battery life, ensuring it lasts all grilling season without needing to change the batteries once
- hold button so it will keep the temp reading until you release it
These features are always important when you’re trying to get your food to perfection. And it’s not just searing the perfect steak, or getting your brisket juicy. It’s key when cooking something like a whole chicken, and you need to get both the thighs and the breast cooked but still juicy, and they often have differing temperatures. ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 helps you get closer to becoming the pitmaster or chef you’ve always wanted to be. There are a few perks to choosing the ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 over other thermometers, take a look !
Perks of ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 that make it that much better
Portability&ease of access. If you’ve ever cooked more than one food item at once you know how hectic things can get, and how often tools just end up everywhere. This instant read thermometer comes with a magnetic side, so you can easily keep it in a place you’ll easily find it. Anywhere you can stick a magnet, you can stick the ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 and it will stay there. Not only that, but one end of the thermometer has a hole so you can tie it on a lanyard, hook it to your tool belt when cooking, hang it somewhere close to your cooking space.
Motion sensor and sleep more. Another useful perk is the motion sensor and the way it turns on and off. Rotate the probe, the thermometer starts up. Lay it down, prong still out, and it will go into ‘sleep’ mode so you don’t waste the batteries. Once you pick it back up it wakes up and is ready to read for you.
Ready to use from the box. This is a big plus, as you can use your new thermometer right from the moment you take it out of the box. The batteries are included (2xAAA) and it comes pre-calibrated so it will immediately read the temperature of anything you want. You can, of course, change the batteries and re-calibrate the thermometer if you wish.
Waterproof. Anyone who has ever cooked knows your hands can get wet, they can get sticky, oil can and will sputter, and sometimes you spill some sauce for good measure. As a result the thermometer could easily need a cleaning, which is where a waterproof one gets really useful. Wipe your ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 with a soapy rag, then wipe with a moist one to rinse it and it’s as good as new. This thermometer will also work if it gets rained on, dropped in the snow, or a very shallow pond (up to 3ft of water).

Our review for ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 on pan-seared duck breast
We’ve used the ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 ourselves on a duck breast and sweet potato and peas lunch, and it worked very well. The duck breasts we had were frozen and then left to thaw in the fridge overnight. We then took them out of the fridge and left them on the counter so they could get up to room temperature to ensure the difference between the middle and the outer part wasn’t too much. In the meantime, we prepared a sweet potato puree and mashed peas with butter.
Duck breasts in a hot pan, no lid, medium heat on the biggest burger. They began to sizzle, the fat began to render and pool into the grill pan, and we got ourselves a really nice and crispy skin (which we like). We flipped the breasts when we noticed the skin had turned golden.
We took the temperature several times as we wanted to see how the thermometer would read at different points. First, when the duck was halfway done, and then when it was done.
The temperature reading is instant, which is really handy when cooking something that relies on a specific temperature to be cooked perfectly. Now, notice our duck breast was done when it read 146 F and 148 F, respectively. In our opinion, this is the perfect moment to stop cooking the duck due to carryover heat and duck being similar to beef. A great duck breast is pink in the middle and juicy, and you can have it more on the rare side if you like.
The FDA recommends you cook poultry to 165 F, like with chicken, turkey, or goose. But we’ve always had our duck a little on the rare side, and we prefer it that way.
Now, we’re right-handed but could easily hold and angle the ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 with our left hand, and found it very easy to use. And also very easy to read, with the big display and the large numbers.
We then had to clean the thermometer because duck fat is no joke and it sputtered like no tomorrow. The stove, backsplash, and counter needed a good cleaning after that too. As you can see it still worked just fine.
And the final result ! Juicy duck breast, pink inside, with nicely seared skin (complete with crispy sides too). Sweet potato puree and mashed peas with butter on the side, with a dollop of cherry jam on top. Plating is not our strong suit, but man was this delicious !
