Dark ‘N Stormy

Sharing is caring!

The Dark ‘N Stormy is a classic cocktail made with Gosling’s Black Rum and ginger beer. It is typically served in a highball glass over ice, with a lime wedge for garnish.

The drink is known for its dark, rich color and its spicy, refreshing flavor.

Tasting Notes

The first sip of a Dark ‘N Stormy greets you with the robust, molasses-like sweetness of the Gosling’s Black Rum. This is quickly followed by the fiery, sharp bite of ginger beer, which provides a refreshing contrast to the rich rum. The combination of these flavors creates a well-balanced drink that is both warming and invigorating.

As you continue to drink, the rum’s complexity unfolds with hints of caramel and vanilla, complementing the ginger beer’s spiciness.

As the ice melts slightly, the flavors blend even more, offering a smoother, more integrated taste experience. The ginger beer’s effervescence adds a lively sparkle to each sip, making the Dark ‘N Stormy not just flavorful but also texturally interesting.

The lime wedge, if used, adds a subtle citrus note that can brighten the drink and add a touch of acidity to balance the sweetness of the rum and the spice of the ginger beer.

Tips & Tricks

A few dashes of Angostura or another type of bitters can add depth and complexity.

This will enhance the citrus flavor and add more brightness to the drink.
