Pumpkin Bourbon Smash Cocktail

Sharing is caring!

The Pumpkin Bourbon Smash is a fall-inspired cocktail that brings together the cozy warmth of pumpkin, the crisp sweetness of apple cider, and the rich depth of bourbon. With hints of maple syrup and pumpkin pie spices, this drink is the perfect blend of autumn flavors, finished with a dash of orange bitters for a touch of brightness. It’s a comforting yet sophisticated drink, ideal for cooler evenings or festive gatherings.

Tasting Notes

The first sip introduces a smooth, warming bourbon base, balanced beautifully by the sweetness of apple cider and maple syrup. The pumpkin puree adds a creamy, velvety texture that coats the palate with each sip, while the familiar pumpkin pie spices—cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove—deliver a cozy, spiced flavor that feels like autumn in a glass. The addition of orange bitters brings a subtle citrusy edge, cutting through the richness and leaving a pleasant, balanced finish.

As the drink lingers, the combination of spices and bourbon deepens, creating a layered experience with every sip. The maple syrup enhances the natural sweetness of the apple cider without overpowering the cocktail. Meanwhile, the creamy pumpkin and spicy notes evolve on the palate, providing warmth and comfort with a slightly smoky bourbon undertone. It’s a perfect blend of sweet, spiced, and earthy flavors that leave you wanting another sip.

Tips & Tricks

Infuse your maple syrup with vanilla or cinnamon for an extra layer of flavor.

Substitute regular bitters with smoked bitters to add a rich, smoky element that complements the bourbon.
