What is Pomegranate Cosmopolitan?
The pomegranate Cosmopolitan is a variation on the original using pomegranate juice instead of cranberry juice. The aim is to get a similarly sour drink, with a similar color, but slightly different aroma.
The quality and overall flavor of the drink hinges on the pomegranate juice you use. Freshly pressed juice will always be quite sour, so you might need to add a bit of simple syrup. If you use store-bought, you get a sweeter drink but still sour.

When is this drink best ?
I find the pomegranate Cosmopolitan works great as a summer cocktail, with its vibrant pink-red color and sour note. I can easily see this served at clubs on a warm summer evening, or a dinner date in July.
My thoughts on Pomegranate Cosmopolitan
I liked the pomegranate Cosmo, actually better than the original. I think pomegranate juice works a bit better in terms of aroma than cranberry juice, and if you get a good store-bought juice it will be quite flavorful (if barely sweet).
The triple sec is negligible in terms of flavor, but it adds a nice sweetness and burn at the end, pairing with the vodka.

Notes, substitutes, and tips
If you want the pomegranate flavor a little stronger, and/or the drink to be a little sweeter consider using grenadine syrup instead of pomegranate juice. Use half the amount in the recipe and you’ll get a very flavorful and pleasantly sweet-sour drink.
If you’re sticking to the recipe as-is, you could also try using flavored vodka for a slightly different flavor and effect.
