What is Pomegranate Gimlet ?
Pomegranate gimlet is a variation of the classic gimlet where you add pomegranate juice for extra flavor and color. There is another version that does not use juice and uses pomegranate syrup instead of simple syrup, to achieve a shorter, stronger drink.
If you’re following this recipe (with juice) the quality of your juice will dictate the final flavor. Fresh pomegranate juice is sour, and definitely needs some syrup. Carton juice is sweetened but still sour, so it might need less syrup. I used carton juice.

Notes
When is this drink best ?
I think the pomegranate gimlet works great as a summer cocktail, and I think it’s one of the more elegant pomegranate cocktail out there. Served in a relatively small glass, with a beautiful color, this drink is a great dinner cocktail, served with something a bit more refined and elegant.
My thoughts on Pomegranate Gimlet
I liked the pomegranate gimlet, but not more than the original version. I feel pomegranate does work well with gin but it dulls some of the flavor, and this might be a good thing for some. The first feel is a mix of sour from lime and pomegranate juice, then the botanicals in gin, and finally the pomegranate flavor in the juice. Pretty good overall.

Notes, substitutes, and tips
This recipe calls for pomegranate juice, and offers a longer, more diluted version of a gimlet. If you want a stronger version, swap the simple syrup for grenadine syrup, and don’t add any pomegranate juice at all. It will be a strong drink, sweeter, and more flavorful.
