What is Strawberry Gimlet ?

The strawberry gimlets is a fruity version of the classic gimlet – a mix of strawberry, gin, and lime juice. This version works best with strawberry syrup over puree or fresh fruit, because it’s meant to replace the simple syrup in the original gimlet. Now, whether you buy or make your strawberry syrup is up to you. The point is to give this a beautiful flavor and color. So here’s how to make a strawberry gimlet.

When is this drink best ?

The strawberry gimlets is a perfect summer cocktail, and it comes in the cutest little coupe you can imagine. This makes it a great dinner cocktail, like for a date, or an event where the dress code is at least smart casual.

My thoughts on Strawberry Gimlet

I liked the strawberry gimlet, and I found to a very well balanced drink. The balance between sweet and sour is just right, since both the syrup and the lime are in the same amount. The strawberry flavor gives everything a nice overall vibe, and it pairs fairly well with the botanical notes in gin. I think raspberry is a better fit for gin than strawberry, but this works too.

Overall a very strong drink, since you’ve got more gin than mixer in there. Don’t underestimate this pretty glass !

Notes, substitutes, and tips

This is usually served in a chilled coupe, but if you have nothing of the sort at home, just use a small glass. The entire drink is about 4 oz total, so use a glass that fits a total of 4 oz.
