What is Vodka Sour?
Vodka sour is a twist on the classic gin sour, using vodka instead of gin. It has a much milder flavor and it lets the other ingredients shine through. This one also has some aromatic bitters added to it, so it’s going to be a rather complex and elegant drink. Here’s how to make one.

Notes
When is this drink best ?
I feel the vodka sour is a great winter cocktail, partly because it uses vodka, and partly because it’s such an elegant, smooth cocktail because of the egg white. It’s a really beautiful drink, even if you don’t add the bitters. I can easily see it served at an elegant dinner, or an important event.
My thoughts on Vodka Sour
I found the vodka sour to be quite good, with a complex aroma. Vodka by itself is plain, but when mixed with aromatic bitters and lemon juice it provide a very smooth backdrop for the other flavors. The egg white gave the entire drink a smooth texture, as it usually happens, and I think it even rounded out any rough edges from the lemon juice or bitters.
Lastly, we have some sweetness, just enough to make this a great cocktail but not an overwhelming one. It’s just right, and I think you’ll love it too.

Notes, substitutes, and tips
The recipe calls for plain, simple vodka in order to let the other ingredients shine. However you can use flavored vodka if you like. I think most flavors will work here, but citrus might be your best bet (lemon, grapefruit, orange, anything you like).
The aromatic bitters in this drink are a blend of spicy and bitter, but you can use any aromatic bitters you like such as orange bitters, plum bitters, chocolate bitters, or anything you can get your hands on.
