What is Cucumber Collins?
A cucumber Collins is a version of Collins that uses fresh cucumber slices, muddled or shaken. The aim is to get a refreshing, cooling note in the drink, without straying too far from the original flavor. This is not an overly strong cucumber flavor; it won’t taste like a salad. It’s subtle, enough to elevate the other flavors but subtle enough to stay in the background. Here’s how to make one.

Notes
When is this drink best ?
I think the cucumber Collins is an excellent summer cocktail, just perfect to lounge by the pool, in the shade. If you don’t have a pool just laying in your backyard tanning will make you want one of these. It’s light and bubbly and refreshing, a very casual drink that can be easily put together.
My thoughts on Cucumber Collins
I liked the cucumber Collins, as the cucumber note is subtle but very pleasing and it works well with the other flavors. Cucumber and gin are old-time pals, lemon works great with both gin and cucumber in general, and a splash of simply syrup enhances all the flavors.
On top of all this the club soda thins out the drink, with a bubbly, cooling texture that just works perfectly in this.

Notes, substitutes, and tips
This recipe uses fresh cucumber, but if you’re not a fan of cucumber you can try a different but related veg or fruit. Something like zucchini, pumpkin, squash, honeydew, watermelon, or cantaloupe.
If you’re not a fan of muddling, you can always use a flavored syrup instead of simple syrup, and skip the fresh item.
