A vodka lemonade sounds like a great way to battle the heat while also getting a mild, enjoyable buzz. This is an old, classic drink that’s stuck around for some very good reasons.

What is Vodka Lemonade?
The vodka lemonade is simply a mix of 3 parts lemonade to 1 part vodka, though you could make it stronger if you like. The key here is to have a good, tasty, zingy lemonade with a bit of sweetness to it. This recipe is pretty old, spiked lemonade is much like spiked ice tea: very popular and a staple of summer. Here’s how to make one.
Vodka Lemonade Cocktail Recipe
The classic spiked lemonade to get the summer started.
- 2 oz vodka
- 6 oz lemonade
- Build in ice-filled Collins or highball glass. Stir.
You can make this as strong or as mild as you want, by tweaking the amount of lemonade you use.
And if you want more flavor, consider using a citrus vodka instead of plain.
When is this drink best ?
Vodka lemonade is great whenever lemonade is: throughout the whole warm season, and especially on lazy, casual, even fun warm days when you don’t feel like doing much. Or when you’re celebrating with family, or hosting a cookout or a potluck, or simply want to enjoy a nice glass of lemonade by yourself.
The great thing about this spiked lemonade is you can turn it into a spiked punch very, very easily. As long as you’ve got the means to keep it cool, you can easily serve an entire host of people. Or, if a punch bowl isn’t realistic, then a large jug in the fridge is also a good option.
My thoughts on Vodka Lemonade
I liked vodka lemonade, mainly because I love lemonade and when it’s mixed with plain vodka it hides it very well. This is entirely dependent on the quality of vodka, of course, so make sure you use at least medium/decent vodka since it might show through the lemonade sometimes.
Overall I find this very refreshing, and a great way to enjoy a summer afternoon.

Notes, substitutes, and tips
This recipe calls for plain but decent vodka. So make sure you use a good one.
If you want to enhance the citrus in this, use citrus vodka instead. Or use any flavored vodka that might go well with lemonade – such as raspberry, strawberry, or rhubarb.
The lemonade you use could be any brand or recipe you love, as long as it’s flavorful and acidic enough. Keep in mind you will dilute it with vodka, so it should still be good then.
