Gin sonic has a funny name but it’s quite a simple highball. It’s bubbly, refreshing, and maybe just the right thing when the weather is getting warm.

What is Gin Sonic?
Gin sonic is a mix of equal parts gin, tonic water, and club soda, hence the combined name. It’s one of the many bubbly and refreshing highballs you can make, combining tonic and club soda. And my guess is you could also make this into a club soda and lemon soda mix, and have it come out just as good. But because it’s got such a simple ingredient list, you need some really good ingredients so make them count.

Notes
When is this drink best ?
Gin sonic works great as a summer cocktail, since it’s on the bubbly and refreshing side. It’s casual and very easy to put together, so there’s no fuss about it. I could easily see this served alongside meals, or even served on its own as a refreshment in lounges.
My thoughts on Gin Sonic
I found the drink a bit plain but still refreshing. The club soda tones down everything, including the gin and tonic water, so it’s not going to be a strong tasting cocktail. There’s also a little bit of salt in this, depending on your choice of club soda.
Overall a simple drink, helped along by the tonic water. I suggest using flavored tonic water.

Notes, substitutes, and tips
All three ingredients in this are pretty simple. Make sure you use a gin you really like, and a club soda that isn’t too salty so it doesn’t cut through the others too much. The tonic water is the only one bringing sweetness, so choose it wisely.
