What is Pineapple Daiquiri?
The pineapple daiquiri is a natural twist on the classic daiquiri. It’s perhaps one of the most common versions of the flavored daiquiri, since pineapple is a perfect addition to rum. The addition of pineapple also brought about other twists, such as the strawberry daiquiri, banana daiquiri, peach daiquiri, and so on.
There are two main ways of making a flavored daiquiri – shaken, or frozen. I prefer shaken daiquiris, so that is the recipe I am working with today.
Pineapple Daiquiri Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 oz white rum
- 0.5 oz lime juice
- 0.5 oz simple syrup
- 1 oz pineapple juice
Instructions
- In a shaker combine rum, lime, pineapple, simple syrup, ice. Shake well.
- Strain into chilled coupe glass.
Notes
- The pineapple hides rum very well, don't underestimate the alcohol in this.
- Can also be made with aged rum for a funkier flavor.
When is this drink best ?
Pineapple daiquiri is one of the greatest summer cocktails you could put on the menu. It’s delicious, it’s tropical, and it’s strong enough to give you a nice buzz in a few sips.
I could see the pineapple daiquiri served at casual get togethers like family dinners, backyard gatherings, cookouts, or poolside lounging. But it could also work great while out clubbing, having dinner with friends, or even on a wedding bar menu.
My thoughts on Pineapple Daiquiri
I really liked the pineapple daiquiri, and I think it reminded me of a lighter version of a Pina Colada (sans coconut). Rum of any kind goes extremely well with pineapple, even white rum which is far subtler in flavor still works great with pineapple.
I think this can easily blow any daiquiri out of the water, since it’s the perfect combination of flavors. Overall a really great cocktail, and a pretty strong one too. Not to be underestimated, there’s 2 full ounces of alcohol here.

Notes, substitutes, and tips
The recipe calls for white rum, though you can use any rum you like. I think dark rum makes for funkier cocktail and always goes better with pineapple, but if you want to keep this lighter in flavor go with white rum.
I made the shaken version of a pineapple daiquiri. If you want to make it frozen, use a blender instead of a shaker, and add raw pineapple chunks instead of pineapple juice.
